Marketing is not only about the voice

When Joshua Bell(the master violinist) decided to go in front of a crowd that wasn't expecting him, should he have known that he would get close to zero attention? People were ready to shed hundreds of dollars to watch him at his concert but all he made was fifty dollars on that crowded street after playing for 40 minutes!

What does this speak about branding? marketing?
